Ladies and
Gentlemen,
Please allow me
to introduce myself. My name is David P. Garman, Chief of the Scottish
American Athletic Association (SAAA). We are a non-profit 501(c)(3)
organization dedicated to the education of the general public about the
Celtic Culture through the vehicle of Athletics. Ancient events steeped in
history of the Celtic people. We are not a reenactment group, but an
organization contesting one of the most ancient athletic events in history
starting back in 1057 A.D. when King Malcolm Canmore. Who called upon the
Clans to send their best runners, for he needed messengers. Send their
best fighters, for he needed a private army, and send the strongest, he
needed personal guards. We don't discriminate against anyone who wants to
come out and throw. We have an open door policy, everyone is welcome to
come out and try.
Our mission is to
educate the general public of his or her own history and culture. We are
hired by Celtic festivals to run, sanction, and promote Scottish Highland
Games. We are currently expanding out of California north to Portland
Oregon and into Washington State and now as far east as Texas where we
have a satellite organization set up. We are the bench mark for all others
to follow. We are not trying to overtake any existing organization, but to
standardize the games for all.
We are in need of
donations to expand any amount would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Reverend David P.
Garman, MPS, KT, 32˚
